The Lord was “perfect.” I should say is “perfect.” Never having sinned once!
Hebrews 4:15 informs us that Jesus … “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” As I said, “perfect!”
Furthermore, He was, according to Hebrews 7:26 … “holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and made higher than the heavens.”
This is our Lord Who lived a “sanctified” life! Separate from sin … so that we might also pursue life as “separated” Believers!
Read with me John 17:19, the very Words of Jesus. “For their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”
In fact, stated even more strongly, Jesus IS our Sanctification! 1 Corinthians 1:30 teaches us … “But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.” Amazing!
Jesus kept clean to encourage us to be “clean” in our daily living! (Back to John 17:19 … “And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.”)
This suggests the thought that prompted today’s Lesson. Should I seek to live a “sanctified” life (separate from sin, as much as possible) so that those over whom I have influence might also live “cleaner” lives?
The obvious answer … YES!
Through the Power of the Holy Spirit and the cleansing Word of God … let us live and behave as sanctified Christians ought! And then (with prayer) those around us will note our example and follow in our steps.
ALL TO GLORIFY OUR HEAVENLY FATHER!
Anyone ready to try this principle?
I trust (and pray) so.
