His name was Joseph.
A Preacher I know has listed (in his commentary) over 100 ways that Joseph is a “picture” of Christ! A “type” of our Lord.
In fact, I know of not one single negative thing (in all Scripture) recorded against Joseph! I know he sinned, of course. All have done so. But any mistake of his is NOT mentioned in the Bible!
And today’s Bible Verse, Genesis 41:38, reflects a life so lived under God’s control. And it is spoken by a rank heathen!
“And Pharaoh said unto his servants, Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?”
And that “man,” of whom Pharaoh spoke, was “Joseph!”
A man skilled at godly living.
A man equipped to think logically.
A man dedicated to the benefit of others.
A man willing to serve his community.
A man who could suffer gracefully.
A man who refused to become bitter or unforgiving.
Think of it!
“Can we find such a one as this is, a man in whom the Spirit of God is?”
If the Spirit of God indwells a man or woman, there is EVIDENCE of such Presence!
In the New Testament the Spirit’s Impact is worded this way: “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance.” Galatians 5:22-23
In the Old Testament, the Spirit of God upon Jesus, is depicted as follows. “And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon Him (upon Jesus), the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.” Isaiah 11:2
If you are saved, the Holy Spirit lives “in” you as well.
Can men and women, those around you, see His Working in your life?
As clearly as Pharaoh saw the “Spirit of God” in Joseph?
Wow!
