Recently we were in Michigan for a week of Revival. I drove into Grand Rapids and visited the home of what was once called the “Radio Bible Class.” I can remember to this day my Grandmother Green and Aunt Saidie sitting around the radio, listening intently as God’s Word was being taught! (What an impact that makes on a little ten or eleven year old boy!)
See the old microphone?
Today’s Bible Lesson …
Paul (an older Preacher) advised Timothy (a younger Preacher) in this fashion: “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same COMMIT THOU to faithful men, who shall be ABLE TO TEACH others also.” 2nd Timothy 2:2, in other words … “What we have heard, pass that down through the generations, the great Truths of Scripture!”
And that’s exactly what the Radio Bible Class did! It’s teacher, Dr. M. R. DeHaan, was an excellent expositor of the Word of God!
Each month he published a small booklet, placing in print “the heart” of his four radio Lessons for the upcoming weeks! I still have dozens of those little jewels! I yet remember some of them clearly, such as “The Blunders of Paul!” Jesus was perfect, but not necessarily Paul! This little document constituted four of the greatest Sermons I’ve ever heard (to this day) on following God’s Will!
Folks, is there someone from whom YOU have learned the fundamentals of Truth? Of course there is! Then, today thank God for them, that preacher or teacher.
And also this question. Are YOU passing along the things you have learned to a younger ear somewhere? To a member of the future generation?
“Teaching,” what a word!
John 7:14 relates of our Lord: “Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and TAUGHT.” Jesus, The Teacher!
Conveying Truth to His disciples!
Let’s get busy, my Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
