We’re traveling today (to an old fashioned Revival Meeting) and I didn’t think I would be able to easily find a Bible Text for this morning’s Lesson. But the Lord sure proved me wrong! (Thank God for Gideon Bibles in motel rooms. This one even had a King James Version!)
Isaiah chapter 63 opens with a series of questions, and some answers … all pertaining to the beginning of the Millennium I believe.
“Who is this that cometh from Edom, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, travelling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save. Wherefore art thou red in thine apparel, and thy garments like him that treadeth in the winefat? I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment. For the day of vengeance is in mine heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.” Isaiah 63:1-4, King James Version, of course.
This is Jesus.
Having (if I can blend some Scripture here) just ridden His white horse of victory from Heaven back to earth. Having interrupted the Battle of Armageddon, having defeated Israel’s enemies! Splattered in red, his garments all bloody! (Not the Blood of Calvary here, the blood of anti-Semites and the antichrist and such!)
Jesus is angry!
And He fought and won the Battle alone, it appears! (Though he had “armies” with Him, “The armies which were in heaven followed Him.” Revelation 19:14)
This is Prophecy, pure and simple!
The Day of Grace is over.
The Day of Wrath has come!
And soon after this “cleansing” … the Millennium begins. Jesus initiates His Kingdom Rule on earth.
I mean, mid-Text, He tells us Who He is! Look … “I that speak in righteousness, mighty to save.” He is Righteousness! He is the “Mighty-to-save” One! He is the Son of God! He is our Saviour, too!
Wow, I have given you the timeline I think is unfolding in this Passage. Jesus words it this way: “The year of my redeemed is come.” Also, Biblically, the Year of Jubilee!
Israel redeemed!
The earth about to rejoice!
Glorious indeed!
