These two epochal verses of Isaiah 40 have not yet been fully realized. But they will be …
“Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him. He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.” Isaiah 40:10-11
At Jesus’ Second Coming, when He sets His feet again on earth, the Mount of Olives to be precise!
Yes, Jesus is the “Lord God” of our Text! And the next time He comes, indeed, will be with a “strong Hand.” And a ruling “Arm!” And He will (again) finish His “Work!”
But it’s not all business! Jesus the King of the Ages (and of the whole world) will have a “soft, loving, personal” Side!
He will still be “The Lord my Shepherd!”
He will (still) feed us!
He will (still) love us, gather us about Him, cuddle us … as does a good Shepherd!
I’ve always admired John the Disciple/Apostle for being able so often to “lean on Jesus’ Breast.” (John 21:20)
But in the Millennium (if not before) I can get that near His Heart too! Look at the Isaiah Text above … something about us being “carried in His Bosom!”
Gentle Leader, the Lord Jesus Christ!
World Ruler … during the Millennium!
Hallelujah!
