Finding these “Millennium” Verses … is a thrilling search! But now I am beginning to wonder, “Is it also an endless search?”
Isaiah alone is a Pioneer in this area. And though we have nearly compassed his literary Corpus, we find ourselves in his penultimate chapter again this morning.
“And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear. The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD.” Isaiah 65:24-25
One verse deals with prayer, the other with peace!
Both, contextually, millennial in nature.
“I WILL ANSWER,” Who can that be but the Lord God Almighty? So here is an incitement to pray! (As are dozens of other Bible verses.) But I know of none other like this one! “Before they call, I will answer.” Astounding! Then, nearly as delightful, “While they are yet speaking (praying), I will hear.” Miraculous, instantaneous answers to prayer!
Whereas elsewhere in Scripture, Daniel once had to pray 21 days before his answer came! (Daniel 10:13) And Jeremiah, 10 days on one occasion, Jeremiah 42:7.
But in the Millennium … “before they call!”
Wow!
Then something about “peace.” Isaiah has it: “The wolf and the lamb shall feed together.” Two presently warring natures … now eating side by side! And the addendum: “The lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat.” No more vicious, bloody attacks on innocent little creatures! Lions eating grass!
And that little fact about the serpent may be a “slur” on the devil, on Satan! Recall Genesis 3:14 please: “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life.”
Wow!
Our Text this morning has given us (again) ample evidence that the Millennium will be a (gloriously) different time on this earth. (I almost wonder if creation reverts to its “pre-Flood” state. I know it enjoys the Presence of its Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ!)
Lots of little, short Bible “snippets” about the coming Kingdom Rule of Christ here on earth. But when we merge them, synthesize them … a good summary statement might be: “But as truly as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the LORD.” Numbers 14:21, spoken by the Prophet Moses.
Grant it, dear Lord, we pray.
