Just four powerful Words from the mouth of Peter, concerning Jesus: “Him hath God exalted ….” Quoting just a part of Acts 5:31.
Here is God the Father … exalting … God the Son!
The Greek verb used here, “hupsoo,” means “to lift on high!” Or “to raise to the very summit!”
A fuller picture: “Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:9-11
Yes, just as Jesus sought to live His Life in honor and glory of our great God … “Father, glorify Thy Name” … so the Father certainly purposed to glorify His Son! Quoting John 12:28, in part.
At Jesus’ Transfiguration, for example: “This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.” Matthew 17:5
Years prior to that, at our Lord’s baptism … “And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” Matthew 3:17
The Father exalting the Son!
The simple point of today’s lesson … SINCE GOD THE FATHER SO EXALTS JESUS … do you not think it appropriate (necessary even) that we do the same?
Jesus this very second, at the Father’s Right hand!
You just can’t exalt anyone more than that!
Amen!
