I had not noticed the Verse until a little while ago. Moses reports: “And all the children of Israel murmured.”Numbers 14:2
All?
Yes, all!
A condition that is true, I suspect, of each of us … at one time or another. We do murmur!
The verb used by the Holy Spirit here is “lun,” simply pronounced “loon.” It means “to grumble or complain!” It can also mean “to grudge.”
Grumbling is also a sin denounced in the New Testament. “Do all things without murmurings.” Philippians 2:14. (“To mutter, to talk against, to confer secretly, to speak in a low and negative tone!”)
Grumbling is, in essence, a slap in God’s Face. It is our not being satisfied or happy or content with the things God brings into our lives! Offensive to the Lord, no doubt!
Paul once said, “I think myself happy!” (In Acts 26:2, witnessing before King Agrippa.)
Seems like that attitude would solve all our grumbling tendencies!
Or surely, this cordial is the antidote to grumbling … “This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:21-23
Wow!

Enough said, the Holy Spirit can take the Lesson from here …
