As a lad I went with my Dad to our Church’s monthly night at the local “Rescue Mission.” Our Pastor would preach to those poor man who had lost nearly everything. Generally somebody got saved, or at least made a profession of faith in Christ.

Those trips made an impression on my young mind.

Then as a young Preacher in Bible College I was the one asked to preach to the men. Foul smells, including the stench of alcohol, rush back to my mind even as I type these words.

Rescue Missions, like the famous Pacific Garden Mission in Chicago, have done a great work for God through the years.

But I’d like to tell you about the greatest Rescue Mission ever. THE OLD RUGGED CROSS OF CALVARY!

And the greatest Preacher ever, the Lord Jesus Christ!

One verse will do the job today … “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Hallelujah for Luke 19:10!

Has he yet rescued you?

If not, He can!

He will if you’ll ask Him, trust Him, believe Him!

Jesus’ Own Words, John 5:24 … “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.”
