Its the very opening Line in Psalm 17. Its first three words in the King James Version read: “HEAR THE RIGHT.”
Obviously this is a prayer, a plea! (The Psalm is even labeled by its Superscript “A Prayer of David.”)
“HEAR THE RIGHT, O LORD.”
I have read the Psalms repeatedly in my Christian life. Yet, somehow, I have never been as captivated by these words as I was earlier this morning.
I know God can “hear” well. After all, He is God! Omniscient, omnipotent, omni-present!
(The first recorded thing God “hears,” in Scripture, is the voice of Adam. Adam who has recently sinned. See Genesis 3:9-11.)
You might say that God heard “wrong” (or heard Adam’s “disobedience”) that day! By that I mean that God heard the voice of a man who had failed to walk in His revealed Will.
No doubt, God is hearing a lot of “wrong” in today’s world!
But David’s prayer is one of asking God to hear the “RIGHT” in a troublesome (apparently even dangerous) situation that the Palmist is facing!
My point today … GOD CAN NOT ONLY HEAR EVERY “NOISE” ON EARTH, surely so! After all, He did create our ears, sound waves, and all that!
HE CAN EVEN HEAR “UNRIGHTOUSNESS” … AND ITS GLORIOUS COUNTERPART “RIGHTEOUSNESS!”
“Hear the Right, O Lord.”
Care for Thy children in these wicked days.
Plead the cause of justice, innocence, morality!
Amen!

I wonder if, when God trains His Ear toward America, there is now a stunning “silence” when it comes to hearing “RIGHT?”
“When the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” Luke 18:8, righteous faith!
