In a recent “Evening Meditation” Bible Class (one of our YouTube videos) we studied Jesus feeling “compelled” to travel through Samaria. “And he must needs go through Samaria.” John 4:4
Class warfare, racism in today’s terminology, existed between the Jews and the Samaritans back in that day. “The Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.” John 4:9
Even Jesus’ Disciples were astounded that our Lord “talked” to a Samaritan woman! Those people were among the “lowest” of sinners, especially in the eyes of the Jewish Leaders, the “separated” Pharisees and their cronies. John 4:27 … “His disciples marvelled that He talked with the woman.”
In fact, one of the enemies’ most bitter criticisms of Jesus was, according to Luke 15:2 … “And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This man receiveth sinners.”
One day that suspicious crowd even accused Jesus in this manner … “Then answered the Jews, and said unto him, Say we not well that thou art a Samaritan, and hast a devil?” Blasphemy against the Son of God, John 8:48. Note their association of the “Samaritans” with “devils, demons!”
Wow!
But Jesus DID come to save the lost!
He is a “Whosoever will may come” Redeemer!
And that “whosoever” includes … of all people … Samaritans!
Hallelujah!
I’ll go this far … Jesus loved Samaritans!
And He loves you, too.

By the way, by chapter’s end (John 4) … the lady does trust Jesus as her Saviour. She does get saved!
